The Lebanon Valley Rails-to-Trails has been working to provide a safe and enjoyable outdoor space through Lebanon County since 1996. The LVRT Trail Status Report Archive provides a record of our dedication to the health, well-being, and value that outdoor recreation provides to our community and its visitors.
Over 18 miles of rail-trail have been completed, with improvements funded by state and county funds. Upcoming phases include safety enhancements, land acquisitions, railway reconstruction and potential trail relocations. Key works involve collaboration with municipalities, utility companies, and contribution from local volunteers. The projects aim to support hiking and biking activities.
LebTown recently visited with Wengert to update readers on the rail trail’s progress. Wengert had just received an updated chart from the engineering firm in charge of the 25.7-mile rails-to-trails project.
Over 18+ miles of rail-trail have been completed in the southern part of Lebanon County to the City of Lebanon; north of the Lebanon Valley Mall; and a stand-alone section near Jonestown.
